At the end of the nineteenth century, the
church started as an Arts & Crafts building that was intended to be an adult educational institute for the workers at the nearby paper mills.
It is a beautiful structure, worth a visit: its interior promotes deep calm, painted in pale colours reflecting the light coming through high windows that evoke the clerestory windows of ancient monasteries.
It is now a thriving centre of worship in the village of Chilworth and acts as a focal point for the community.
