Karl and Kasey Channell

Are coming to England 28th September – 3rd October and are looking for accommodation, ideally cheap or free. They would love to house swap or house sit. They are a family of 10 but can manage with 3 rooms. House swap does not have to be simultaneous; they have a modest home with 4 bedrooms in Lake Tahoe. If anyone is interested, please contact kkchannell@hotmail.com

Milk Bottle Tops

Many thanks to all who continue to bring plastic milk bottle tops to leave in the church. These were going via Mothers' Union in Cranleigh to raise funds for Surrey Air Ambulance but in future will go via Cranleigh Parish Council to help Springboard - a charity in Horsham supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities. For more information see https://www.springboardsupport.org.

Come and Join the Wedding Celebration 10am August 31st St James’ Shere

As many of you know our Rector Tim is getting married this month. As a Benefice we would like to celebrate their marriage with them by praying for them and blessing them as a church family (there will also be fizz and cake afterwards). Appropriate therefore that the set Gospel reading for that Sunday is The Parable of the Wedding Feast (Luke 14:7-14) in which Jesus instructs the host not to just invite friends & family but the whole neighbourhood - so everyone and anyone is definitely welcome on the 31st!

Many Grateful THANKS

So many thanks for your fundraising, gardening, cleaning, supporting, encouraging and all the many other ways that you all do to support the Parish.

Benefice News

Text: Each of our benefice parishes has been going through the parish needs process (PNP) this year and reviewing our church development plans (CDP). Albury has only had one focus – what to do following the loss of their resident minister. Shere and Chilworth have come up with some good individual suggestions to address particular challenges or opportunities. The Benefice Ministry Team however began to feel that there was a need to step back and look at the bigger picture and to review our longer term strategy as a Benefice in the light of our core beliefs and objectives (our theology), the challenges we face, and the opportunities open to us. For months we have been talking about the need for change in our parish meetings and our sermons, and after much thought, prayer and discussion a plan has evolved. It is to a degree still a work in progress – but it is also the path we feel we must begin to move down now. To see the plan please click on the strategy link below - but please read it in conjunction our rector's sermon at the recent combined benefice tent service, where he explains the ethos and vision behind the strategy in more detail ('Tent Service' link below). Questions, thoughts and comments are very welcome.
